No.

It will idle normal, but sure as hell won't run normal. You'd be hearing a definate sound of loud ticking/clanking with the increase/decrease of RPM. Ignore this and suffer the consequences; a bottom end rebuild and possibly more.

i know youll hear the knocking noise, but other than that does it run normal. ive got this tick/knock sound that seems to be the loudest right under/around where the power steering resevoir is but my car idles and runs fine. so i was just wondering if your car would idle/run normal except for the noise if you had spun a bearing.

You could have a bad lifter, if it was a rod bearing you would loose power. I have been through that in my Avenger because I had a bad oil leak and it got too low and then I spun a rod bearing. I didn't know exactly what it was and kept driving it because I only had one car then. It was a lot slower, I could hardly accelerate. Sure enough a few days later it left me sit. Rod bearings are usually loud as hell. Lifter tick usually isn't that noticable.

When I spun a rod bearing, it ran a 14.71 on the bottle. So no, it may not affect the performance or idle of your car.

At an idle, you couldn't hear the knock in mine, you could only hear it when you'd rev it up, but that doesn't mean it won't make noise at an idle.

It makes like a pretty heavy paint-can sound, like heavy pieces of metal clanking against each other. While the lifter tick is a lighter tap, it doesn't sound quite as bad.

Drop the oil pan and see if you can jiggle your rod caps.

I should clarify, I don't know for sure if it was a rod bearing, I was just assuming it was because it was very loud. I took it to the shop (because I only had one car and needed it done quick) they said I needed a new engine.
