Alright guys, I need your opinions. I am currently not running an exhaust. We simply cut the pipe so it ends about where the back seats are. I think it is time to put a full exhaust system on the car. I want to get a Y- Pipe and create the Dual Exhaust look, considering I have 2 Exhaust Openings in the rear of the bumper. I need your opinions, this is what I am looking for in a new exhaust:

1. It CAN NOT sound like a mosquito. I hate the high pitch sound. The exhaust needs to be throaty. Similiar to that of like a G35 Stock Exhaust. I ran a DTM style Muffler years ago and it produced the deeper sound I was looking for.

2. Prefer it NOT to be titanium, they discolor to heat. I want something that is Shiny and stays that way, it is a show car.

I am thinking about the following:

Greddy EVO2
Apexi N1
HKS Exhaust
Injen Mufflers with custom pipes back

I am mainly looking for Ideas. Whether it be Greddy, Borla, Magnaflow, Skunk 2, HKS, Injen, etc. Any help is much appreciated.

All the exhausts you listed are single exit. I'd go with the greddy.

Well, I am not sure of anybody who has a dual exit, so I was just under the assumtion I would have to simply buy an extra muffler and have the Y-pipe Fabricated. If you know of any Dual Exit, please let me know. I don't know too much about the different exhaust systems out there.

If it were me, I would try and get two tanabe smr mufflers on there. I had one on my old gs...nice deep and throaty sound. Talk to hiphop615, he has a dual exhaust setup

Step up to a larger pipe diameter for the bulk of the system. Larger piping will slow gas flow, providing more time in sound reduction areas. You know that will cost you low end power, but if it's a show car, you're not doing a great deal of hard core driving, I suspect. Just a thought...

I second the greddy evo. It almost sounds a little like a 350z, just a little bit louder. Im not too sure what the other exhausts sound like but I know the N1 at low rpms sounds like someone passing gas. Obx makes greddy evo style mufflers that look just like the real thing and I'm sure you could acquire two of them and fab up some piping.

hate to say it, but I have owned a few 'brand name' mufflers and my cheapo megan racing one has held out much better than they did, no rust/discoloration, easy to polish back to a nice shine and best of all it was only 35$. 3" in and 5" out etc. You might want to check them out.

i got the apexi n1 3" catback and i wouldnt give it up for nuthin, i love it, nice deep throaty sound

Are you guys running Hi-Flow Cats or using the stock cats? If so, what hi flow cat are you running and what would you reccommend?

id just get a test pipe and call it a day if this is just a show car that you don't need to worry about emissions on

It is a show car, but it still has to be street legal. I drive it on occasion and to all shows. It has to pass emmisions or else I can't renew my tags. Looking to put a hi flow cat on for various other reasons. Basically the cat that is currently on the car is bad and needs to be replaced. Figured I would upgrade while I was at it.

I am running a high flow cat and cat back exhaust. I am not turbo so I also have a 4-2-1 brospeed header at the beginning of my system.

The cat- Random technology 2.25 diameter high flow direct fit stainless.

The catback- Thermal Research and development 2.25 inch stainless with dual 3 inch tips on the muffler.


The sound- INCREDIBLE! Not ricey at all. Real deep low rumble similiar to a V6. I am impressed with the looks, sound and quality of my setup. I prefer the sound over an N1 and the greddy.
BTW- thermal makes a 3inch as well with a single 5 inch tip.

Has nothing to do with age or location. Long story, basically I had a bad turbo that dumped alot of oil down my down pipe and basically have a puddle of oil in my cat. I can try and drain it and get it out and pour some degreaser in there, but replacing it will be alot easier and alot more effective. Right now once the car exhaust heats up it looks like the car is on fire with the amount of smokes it puts out because of oil burnoff. I will look into the system you are running minus the header. Still searching around for some good Hi Flow Cats.

CATCO you can buy universal sized ones from 2"-4" from summit racing. Pretty cheap too. Then just a quick run to the local muffler shop to get some corrisponding flanges weld them to the cat after cutting the ends to proper length and bolt it up with new gaskets... Or you can just take it to satan as long as you have less than 80k miles (unsure if it's 7, 8, or 10 years on that though so you'll have to ask) and they have to replace it (OEM parts) free of charge as per federal mandates reguarding emissions control devices.

bump...........does your apexi run under or over the rear suspension?

This thread is from JANUARY that may be why Mike haha. And to answer this guys question... the 3" Apex'i N1 exhaust goes UNDER the rear supension and the 2.5" Apex'I N1 exhaust goes OVER the rear suspension.
