94247, Problems after rebuild!
Posted by gunmetalGS, Nov-02-05 10:08 AM
Okay guys. I am going to try to make this easy on you guys. All the parts were purchased through the Howell website.

PARTS: (1) 2.0 Performance Bottom End Kit
-Eagle Extreme Rods
-Rod Bearing Size: 25mm
-Main Bearing Size: 25mm
-Bore Size: 20 over
-Pistons: 10.5:1 Compression (JE Pistons)

(2) Top End DOHC High Performance Kit 420A Engine
-AEM Cam Gears/Sprockets
-Crane cam shaft #12
-new lifters, rockers, head gasket, blah blah blah.

(3) MSD ignition coil with MSD wires

(4) Unorthodox Racing Pulley

(5) Spec Stage 2 Clutch With Aluminum Flywheel

(6) C & R Radiator (aluminum)

PROBLEM: Everything got blueprinted, machined, hot tanked, cleaned up, whatever it took to get the parts swapped out. Car starts, everything is smooth. While I am driving, the car runs fine. But when I stop at a light or something, the car loses idle and stalls. What could be the problem? Any suggestions?

PS: I can not provide any pics or videos.. sorry!

Vacuum leak. You forgot to hook up all the vacuum hoses.

But if that happened? Wouldn't the car idle rough on start up?

Not necessarily.

No, because the EGR system is closed at startup, as well as the idle speed is held high.

I am going to check tomorrow, because it might take me a while to check all the vacuum hoses.

Thanks again guys.

Could be many things, vaccuum leak, throttle position sensor, and you have upgraded cams which are going to lower your idle and make it choppy, i would adjust the allen screw on the throttle body to open it up and bring your idle to around 900-1000, check for vaccuum leaks and clean your tps.
