what year is your car. mine was a 95 and it was more hassle than it was worth. i ended twisting the fuel line off trying to get the filter off. that was a big problem. you might want to see how much your shop will charge to do it. it might be worth them to fuck it up

your filter is under the car, by the back pass side of the frame. It's not too dificult to change, did mine not to long ago. The filter was only like 20 bucks or so. I changed it @ 57000 miles, and it looked pretty nasty inside, and after it was done, the car seemed to idle smoother.

Changed it out at 100k. The fuel pump side of the filter was black with lots of caked on crap.
If you have the one located near the passenger rear wheel well, you need to get those thin open ended wrenches as to not break off the fuel line.

cost me 33 bucks at jiffylube, took them over an hour cause it is very hard to get at, with their under floor setup and my lowered car
