93807, No Reading at o2
Posted by eclipse7782, Oct-12-05 03:51 PM
My Datalogger is not getting a reading from the front o2 sensor, I changed it out the front o2 for a brand new one and it is still not getting a reading, the check engine light came back on for it. Any ideas? What should each of the 4 wires read if i tested them to find out which wire is bad?

Did you look for a short in the wiring at all?
If it wasnt working good, you would know.
You would run incredibly rich I beileve and it would idle pretty shitty.

Yes I am running very rich and my idle is shitty. I need to know the reading i should have on the wires so I can find the short. Also if anyone could explain the color scheme of the wires and what each one does i would be very appreciative.

Universal Bosch (or refer to your paper that came with it):

Blue wire = Signal
White wire = Ground
Black wires (2) = Heater

O2 Sensor Harness Wiring:

White-Black = Signal
Black-Green = Signal Ground
Black-Red = Heater Power
Black = Heater Ground

So hook it up like this (harness => sensor):

White-Black => Blue wire
Black-Green => White wire
Solid Black & Black-Red => black wires

Disconnect your ground terminal while you're doing this. Mine was hooked up wrong and it still wouldn't work after I hooked it up correctly. It's like there was a circuit breaker or something that was tripped and didn't reset until I unhooked power to the ECU.

Thanks man this helps a lot. Quick question which wire should be apex i turbo timer be hooked up to, to read the o2 sensor?

ALso can I tap into the heater ground and the sensor ground and ground them directly to the car? To see if one of the grounds has a short>?

I think you could figure that out if you read the wires posted above:

black/green = signal ground (no, it's a ground)
black/red = heater power (no, it's a power wire, nothing to do with the signal)
black = heater ground (no, ground again)
white/black = signal (bingo, it says signal)

That I don't know. wait, isn't that an oximoron? 'short' is short for 'short to ground'. if a ground had a short to ground....but I do understand what you're asking. I don't know if the signal & heater grounds are chassis/common grounds.

No they're not. Otherwise they'd be grounded to the chassis like all the old 1-wire o2 sensors used to be.

That's what I figured, but didn't want to assume.

Found the problem, the positive heater pin inside the o2 harness was broken. Changed out the harness and it works perfect.
