93394, Any reason why a 96 harness and ECU wouldn't work on a 98? Gurus only

As some of you may know I had an engine fire last week. Anyway I got a 96 ecu and harness. All my stock sensors were used either by plugging in or splicing a 98 connector. The car wont turn over. I dont think my fuel pump is turning on. and I used the 98 relays. What should I check ? I know all the wiring is right and all the color codes matched up. Everything was soldered with shrink tubing. The 96 harness also had 2 extra yellow wires that the 98 rear block harness did not have. Im pretty sure these are power but they have no where to go. Any ideas ?

After doing some research I might of blown fuses when the wires started melting so I will check that in the morning. Quick question thought, Does the 96 show a CEL when you turn the key to on and all the lights light up ? Im not gettin a light :(

CEL should light up but if you have blown fuses your problem is most likely there and if the one for the ECU is blown then no the CEL won't light.

I replaced the blown engine fuse and I got a code for intake temp sensor voltage too high or low. Still got no spark and no voltage on the harness

no voltage on which harness..going to what? sensor, power? no spark could mean a couple things...your relay is shot, your cam or crank sensor is shot..or your coil pack is improperly wired.

i tried 2 differant relays and I canged the cam sensor. The coil pack shows a ground single instead of 12V. The only thing left is the Crank sensor. Would the coil harness show ground is the crank sensor failed ?

im not quite for sure about what it will show. i do know that in order for your car to have spark your cam and crank sensors must be in exact harmony and sending signals to your PCM before it will trigger the coil. as far as if the signals are ground or power...im unsure, maybe someone here can come along and clear things up.

have you found what those 2 unused wires are yet?
