93349, oil pump Posted by Jeff405494, Sep-22-05 05:34 PM
I have a 99' gs(w/turbo). I have a new block going in sometime next week or so and was wondering if there is a better oil pump to put with the new block which is built for lower compression. I have a brand new factory oil pump i was gonna put on. Is this ok or is there something better out there? thanks

Exile racing sells a Melling "High Flow" oil pump. I inquired about the "high flow" part and was told that the internal channels are just rounded off a bit more to allow the oil to pass through easier. Now, whether or not that is actually true and whether or not it even makes a difference over stock I have no idea. People on this board have reported slightly lower oil pressures due the "easier flow", but I personally didn't notice a difference. I bought one, and haven't had a problem with it. I'm building a 3rd motor as we speak and I plan to buy another one for that motor. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, I've got the longblock in the car right now. I'm waiting on a few more parts(intake manifold, tb, haltech e6x). Once those come in I'll be able to put it all back together and see if it runs.
