Well I was driving down the highway..and the charging system light came on..so i figured I had broken a belt..being that I was 25miles from home..and the batter wouldnt last that long..i took my car to pep boys...who said the belt didnt break..and claimed i needed a new altenator..well turns out i dont..and that dang egr pipe had melted some of my wires...they said I need to go to a electrical shop..but since everything in my car was function normally..i know it didnt get into the main harness..and must have just melted the wires that run from the altenator..to the battery/ecu. my question is..how hard would it be for me to run these wires myself...of is it just to much of a pain..and should I let someone else do it..

Mark, cmon... you can do it. Find out what gauge wires were melted, cut out the bad section and attatch new sections with crimp caps or something... This is a real common prob, 1 way to aviod this in the future is to get rid off that lame ass egr system, and while yer at it, get rid of AC, evap system, etc... :-) Doublecheck your wires and connections and start her up and she should fire right back up.. Our engines get fuggin hot.

it takes your gas vapor that builds up on the top of your gas tank, and pushes it through piping and canisters and shit and finally into the intake manifold to be shuved and burned in the combustion chamber.. I guess.. All i saw was silly clutter in my engine bay... CEL codes? who cares :-)
