iposted this once before but i don't remember getting any answers. alright i'm pretty sure my computer is messed up. i've been led to this conclusion by the way my car has had a shitty idle since the battery was installed backwards. the a/c fan under the hood comes on periodically for no reason and the time i accidentally touched with the handle of a ratchet that was on a then installed battery.

if i can't find another obd 1 computer in the yard could i use an obd2 and take the little plug in thing under the dash on the drivers side?

I really wouldn't try that. I believe the ECU harness pin #'s are mostly different. Plus, it is a completely different fuel setup that the ECU is built to cope with. Check out:

and look for ECU's
