93222, Trans question, searched but no answer Posted by cs82685, Sep-17-05 05:50 AM
just recently my car has started to rev a bit when i shift at a higher RPM (4000+). Its almost as if you start to push in the clutch before your all the way off the gas, but i am all the way off the gas and it seems to only do it if i push in the clutch not if i just let off and don't shift. Also i'm not sure if it only does it if i'm at WOT and then let off or not. That's about all i can think of to describe it if anyone has ever had this or knows if its an indication of anything i would appreciate it TIA

Yes I actually have had this happen before in my Hyundai excel. what my problem was was a dirty TB my throttle plate was getting slightly stuck open if I tried to shift at full throttle. Like it would stick a little at WOT when I would let off it would take a second to free up before the revvs would drop. all I had to fix it was clean the TB and manifold with some TB cleaner and adjust the throttle cable for idle control (they didn't have the nice IAC we have).
I would check this before thinking it's you tranny. it's a pretty safe bet that all you need is a TB cleaning.
"did someone just say something about bunkers?"

cool thanks for the help. if its not the throttle plate then i'll have my dad's friend take a look he's a transmission guy and as far as i know the car still has the stock clutch and the car has 108k miles on it so it might be time for a change soon

If you got a 108k on it the clutch is probably shot. It could be the butterfly valve on the TB though as stated. Kinda doubt it since you said your not on the gas when it happens.

^^^ it actually seems to be when i go WOT and then let off which makes me think it may just be the valve sticking
