92991, Fiinished Rebulding my rebuild Posted by techboy, Sep-11-05 05:39 PM
A few of you may remember the story of me blowing my rebuild after a 1000 miles ... so Saturday I finished rebuilding my 2nd 420A motor. In my basement I now have 3 420A motors - I'm starting my own junkyard LOL. This time I got all new bearings, new rings and I reused my forged pistons and rods. I think I'm going to put it in over Thanksgiving break, but I'm going to leave the turbo kit off and break it in N/A. Right now I'm thinking I'll put the turbo kit back on in the springtime. That way I can really *listen* to the motor without all the racket that you get from having a turbo. Either way, I'm on the road to trying again. It feels good to have a built bottom end shrink wrapped ready to go. :thumbsup

Congrats. I waited 14,000 miles before I blew my rebuild up. On the bright side, I have the orignal engine back in there now, so it's all good in the hood. Word to your mother. Good night.

I'd like to get 14,000 miles out of this rebuild .... it'd make me a lot happier (and my wallet too) than 1000 ...
BTW - Anyone happen to know the torque specs on Pauter rod cap bolts? I'm thinking it's probably 28lbs like the Eagles ...
