I just installed some stage three crowers in my 98 rs, and now the car won't idle when I come off the gas, and like cuts out when I take off... I have checked timing over and over again and it is fine. Did a compression test and everything checked out. Is there something I might be missing

on a stock car?

What do you have in the way of fuel management? I assume you also have the required lifters/lash adjusters to run those cams as well.

If you have a stock fuel system, you might have to adjust your throttle plate to remain a bit more open than usual (like a 1000rpm idle). You can do this by popping out the little cap on the back of the extension that the throttle arm rest against when closed. There is a set screw behind it that you can adjust to keep the plate from closing all the way. It's not the best fix, but it might work.

Those C3s are causing the stock ECU to dump fuel into the cylinders at idle. Basically, you could be flooding out when you let of the gas.

Aside from that, what are the rest of your mods and what do you think about those cams? I almost bought a set myself. }(

Other than the cams, I have the Crower valve springs and retainers, Modern Performance 60mm TB, V2 intake, and have a S-AFC II installed but haven't really had a chance to play with it a whole bunch yet. I had my manifold ported by NRGY, but am running stock injectors at this time. At Idle you can smell how rich the car is running, and after checking the plugs, indeed it was... But even when I pull it back to -16 or more on the afc it still seems to run the same... I have not yet bought the Air/ Fuel gauge or EGT guauge which I imagine makes tuning a whole lot easier.

get to a dyno with a wideband o2 and tune, should cost 100 bucks for 3 pulls which should be enough to set the safc for idle.

your probably going to be setting the safc to closer to -30 at idle with those cams but only a dyno with wideband o2 can tell you that

dont get a air/fuel gauge that uses the stock o2 sensor, thats just silly and inaccurate

I ended up having to pull in the area of -32 for it to act right at idle.
