92519, one of my pistons has alot of tiny dents.?

i did my valve seals today and a HG andin the process i noticed my #2 piston and the same spot on the head has about 50 pencil point sized dents in it. not all the way through but just small indentations in the piston and the head. is it possible something small fell in there at one time to cause this or what? it doesnt concern me cause car runs fine but its kinda odd. only one piston had this. ( if u wanna visualize what it looks like sharpen a pencil and stab the paper about 50 times. the little holes is what the piston looks like. just only they are dents instead of holes. ) not very deep either

Not turbo myself, and I haven't seen it first hand. I saw a thread one time here that said that was the result of detonation, or in my case.. the sparkplug ground electrode.

detonation or you busted off a spark plug tip and it bounced around for awhile

doh

hmmm . ya it looks weird. it looks like somethin was bouncing in there for a while. luckily no farther damage was done.. i doubt detonation cause shouldnt that be in all cyl then?

You could have one cylinder detonation if you have a dead or dying injector...

But more than likely, you had some detonation and busted up the porcelain insulator on the elctrode. Unfortunately, those dings will make that cylinder MUCH more detonation-prone, and the insulator probably douched up your turbine wheel on it's way out.

Either way, I would pull the turbo and check the hot side.

ya i dunno . the turbine wheels are fine i checked. oh well..

Wheels? You have two turbines?

I've got to see this turbo.

u know what i mean, the compressor wheel and the exhaust wheel.

Did you pull the housings off to check the whole wheel? If you did, and didn't see any damage to your turbine turbine turbine wheel, or your compressor turbine wheel, you should be alright.

Just be careful with that cylinder; it will want to knock WAY before the other two with all of those hot spots.
