92427, trying to stall at stop lights periodically?
Posted by eclipseguy03, Aug-18-05 05:51 PM
Well folks here goes....
I have a 99 GS. I had (YES, Had) a CAI. It fell off just put on a new filter 3 months later. I drive it at least 40 miles a day. I took it for a oil change and tune up about a week ago. Now its stalling every time I come to a stop. It wont do it at any specific time. mostly after ive drivin it for awhile. Then only when i come to a stop at a light. I have to put it in neutral and RPM's will kick back up to about 1000. But I can sit at the light and watch the RPM's drop from 1000, but it wont die? WTF?????? HELP!

had similar symptoms with a faulty PCV. Might want to check that. If its getting stuck intermittently and cutting off some of the vacumm it would almost stall out and then the ECU would correct for the loss in vacuum. Also you may want to utilize the search button, Lotsa nice people will jump all over you if you dont from now on. There is a whole lotta information thats been covered there. just search for your symptoms.

PCV means positive crankcase ventilation. This valve uses vacuum from the intake manifold to draw the fumes from the crankcase. Symptoms of a faulty PCV valve are poor idle and excessive pressure in the crankcase.

If you look at the top of your valve cover you have a line that runs from the top left portion if your standing in front of it to your intake manifold. And connected to your intake manifold is a small little check valve call the PCV Valve. I would recomend just going ahead and replacing it anyway if you've never changed it. they are only like 2.00$ at autozone.

Is it an auto tranny, and if so did you check your battery? I've seen cars with worn out batteries and auto trannies stall when coming to a stop more than once. That doesn't mean the battery is the problem, but it's easy enough to check (volt meter or take it to autozone, they'll check it for free :) )

could be your IAC, had similar problem like yours. I would come to a stop and the rpms would fall almost stalling the car; i would have to quickly rev the engine to avoid stalling. I just changed the IAC and presto! prob fixed.
