91796, Removing the knock sensor Posted by EclipzeGamer, Jul-24-05 04:21 PM
Ok, this is going to sound real dumb, but three of us tried for two hours to remove that damn knock sensor, but we just can't get it. I managed to rotate it 180 degrees though. Does this damn thing unscrew, unclip, or what? All the Chiltons says is to remove it. Thanks!

I think you have to use the same "socket" you use to take out the oil pressure sensor. I forgot what it's called....try a search on removing the oil pressure sensor.

Yeah, the sensor unscrews for the block. Yours may have rusted up some making it hard to remove. Soak it with some penatrating oil.

PB Blaster aka SQUIRRELL PISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! solves any problem with stuck/rusted bolts, and you can clean your guns with it while you wait for it to soak in!!! $4 at autozone. I recommend this for any automotive tool box.

Bah, sorry. Should have been clearer. I'm having trouble getting the electrical connector off the end of the sensor.

Just pull it off... Poke it with a screwdriver if you have to.

It has one of those red-tab locking connectors IIRC. Look at your coil pack on the valve cover. Theres a red tab that slides to the right until it clicks, and then theres a button you press to release the latch. Then you can slide the connector off the sensor.
Personally, I ripped out all my red tabs because they piss me off.
