Anytime I'm at half throttle or more, and over at 3500 RPMs and up, my exhaust rattles and sounds like shit. I've heard a resonator or two will fix this, but haven't looked into yet. I wanted to get y'all's opinions on it before I went ahead with it...the car is still NT by the way.

Get a cat back.

It is a cat-back. 2.25" custom job that a local exhaust shop did for me.

A resonator NA is a must or you will get a lot of rasp. Muffler choice also has a big effect on how the exhaust sounds. I've used a lot of different muffler and the Borla is the best with Magnaflow coming in second.

*edit* The Magnaflow was smaller than the Borla, so the comparison isn't as fair as the rest.

I honestly have no idea who makes the muffler...he just had a wall of mufflers and told me to pick one, then he would build the exhaust and put it on the car. It just looks like a generic import tip...here's a pic:

From your first post you made it sound like it was rattling? If so I'm willing to bet its the pipe that goes behind the driverside rear wheel rattling off the body or frame.

Could be...it did the same thing on my factory exhaust. How do I fix this? It sounds like it could be rattling or just raspy as hell...

look under the car and findout where its touching. Then you will need to make sure your rubber hangers are all attached.

and check the heat shields, especially on the cat, mine rotted through and was rattling

Eclipse99rs: Do you have any pics of where they should be? I put a hi-flow cat on today and the hanger for the cat. was gone.







And as for the cat, I just replaced it today. Still the same sound now, it's just deeper. I'm beginning to think the exhaust is just raspy.

The cat hangers should be right above the cat and towards the front of the car. Also check the one near the resonator after the cat and the ones that hold the muffler up. here is a thread that shows most of the hangers.
