i was just wondering cause i re built a talon motor and noticed the head gasket was metal. so its not like they are gonna break apart like paper kind but what could go wrong. I know hondas have metal ones and they are also re usable. and they dont use any kind of sealer on them or nothin . so i was just wondering.. i know the new one i got for the talon had some kind of sealer on it but why would it be necessary for this motor and not for a honda one?

People have a tendency to follow the shop manual when it calls for a certain gasket and a certain sealant.

a local parts slinger wanted to sell me a felpro HG that was metal bonded with some other kind of gasket material...I shyed away from it. :shrug

all HG's? Or just fel-pro's? If it just fel-pro's are they any good? I've did some research around here and people like them...but just didn't know at the time...and anything I haven't researched I stay away from..generally. LOL

That's the felpro gasket with the steel rings (for a ford v8 of course), my car chewed them up and spit them out. I got a rols gasket, and it's similar in design, but where mine ate that part, the rings are connected for about 1.5".
Not only that, but it could seperate just enough to allow cylinder gasses to be sent into coolent passages, or coolant into the cylinder, or both.
The head can get too hot and mildly warp, causing a not-so-flat surface for the head to seal on.
Do I need to keep going?
