Can you post how many miles it took for your rings to seat? It's been 3200 and I dont think mine are seated yet. Is there a way for me to know if my rings will be even "more seated"?

Dude, your rings should be seated by 1000 miles most of which happens in the first 20 - 50.

Did you do oil changes after the first 100 miles then 100 or so? Was there anything noticable in the oil?

Is your PCV ststem plugged?

I'd go with the Grain on this one. I've only read bad things about these rings and uhhh yea....

almost 1000 miles on mine now. 150 compression accross the board on 8.6:1 je's. I still have my pcv system hooked up.

Losing oil, and some smoke comes out of the oil dipstick. I heard someone on here saying that it took almost 4000 miles for his total seals to fully seat. Just wondering if that was the norm.

wtf!? i have total seals and i have 412 miles on my new motor and my compression is 140-135-135-135 already. maybe your babying your car too much? i dont know. just stating that mine are working great and im using the PCV too.

for 400 miles, i dont think thats bad

i believe it was etx that told me on his fresh block he had 180 across the board cold, and not broken in. I may be confused about that though... with 8.8:1 compression and i think he had conventional je rings

anyway its been like 7000 miles and I get like 270 psi across the cylinders but it burns oil like a mofo. I don't know how this can be. I just recently like 1000 miles ago disabled my PCV system and routed both vents to a catch can and it got rid of my check engine light for IAC being outta whack. I don't know if its the rings or the pistons that's causing me to burn oil probably both.

anyway I've heard so many bad things about total seals and experienced it first hand so yeah next chance you get pop some hastings in there that's what I'll probably do.

You knwo I think I saw somewhere that total seals start as hastings rings and they just add a gapless oil ring :shrug

at 1000 miles i had 175-180 across the board with total seals and 8.6:1 pistons

I have total seals that were installed in the new block that i bought from Howell. I got 1000 miles and check my compression and they were 210 across the board.
