I have about 500 miles on my new motor and it's been running great other than one thing. When I first drove it, it seemed like it was running a little hot when I would touch the valve cover and radiator. It feels way hotter than before the rebuild. Me being as baby, I went and bought a new thermostat just in case. The temp gauge never goes above where it normally does, but it just seems to be running really hot. The only thing I can think of is, the coolant temp sensor might be bad, or the gauge might not be working. I don't know. Anyone else have any other ideas of what it could be? TIA.

Um...does your gauge move from the lowest point to the normal operating position? If so then your gauge is working, I wouldn't worry about it so much if it's hot to the touch, I mean none of us can go out and touch the car after a run...Plus that just don't make sense. Honestly I think your worrying about something you don't' need to. Most of us have worry's about a new motor, unless the thing starts to boil over and smoke....Don't worry

My motor gets hot as hell. Just watch your coolant temp, and mabye pickup an egt gauge. Watching those two things should make you feel safe. ;) I only have one fan on my radiator, heh.

It's possible you may have air bubbles in the system, but if the gauge goes from cold to the normal without any fluctuation, I think you're okay.

My car ran really hot too, before rebuild and after. I think its normal.

your problem is paranoia. all motors run hot. I can barely touch mine even after driving 10min because my Valvecover gets so hot because there is no powdercoating on it, its polished.
