Just wondering. The only thing I really found was from OBX.

USE THE STOCK MANI AND HAVE IT GASKET MATCHED, PORTED AND THE RUNNERS SMOOTHED. aLSO MAKE SURE TO BORE THE TB OPENING TO MATCH THE TB SIZE.

Sorry this question is a few posts down :shrug

The stock manifold is going to suck any way that you look at it. The only way to improve that manifold is to melt it down and cast a new manifold. Shit, with all of the aluminum there, you could probably cast two good manifolds.

HOWEVER, there does not seem to be a better manifold available, so if you don't feel like making one, just fuck with the stock man-i-shit.

very dumb question but can someone explain to me what it means to gasket match the manifold? when i did mine i had someone port and polish it for me and than i made sure the hole for the throttle body was 55mm to match the throttle body , what do you guys mean by gasket match or is it the odvious answer?

ok...if you take your mani off and get a new gasket put the gasket up to were it would boly up, trace around the edge of the gasket were the runners are, they take all the aluminum out were the line is, its kinda hard to explain with out a pic

I have a bunch of pictures from when I ported/modified my manifold. Check it out - http://woodstock.dimensia.com/Garage/turbo/IntakeMani

basically since your intake manifold is ported, the hole is larger, so you want to make the hole in the gasket larger as well, or 'match' the holes

No thats incorrect. Your not making the holes in the gasket larger. you are taking the gasket which already has slightly larger port holes then the manifold does, and you port the manifold out to match the holes in the gasket.
