901, Top Dead Center? Posted by vector_racing, Apr-20-01 12:37 AM
Hey guys i just had a question, How do we get our cars to Top Dead Center? does it always stop at TDC? can i move the cams w/the belt attached still? How is this done? I want to start taking stuff apart, and i don't want to mess anything up...
thanks

Turn the motor at the crank. Put a socket on the crank bolt and turn until you get to top dead center(cylinder 1 at the top of it' stroke) you can remove a spark plug and feel the compression strokes etc. and use a screw driver to feel when it's at the top. You can wrap something aorund the tip of the screw driver so you don't scratch the piston head if you want.
