First off, I know this topic has been covered before but I have searched the forums and have not found the answer I to my problem yet.

I just finished putting on my new ported/polished head, new oil pump, water pump, alternator, timming pullies, and timming belt after about 4mo of down time. The problem is that when I try and start the car the engine will turn over fine from the starter but will not start.

-There is fuel comming in.
-There is was no spark.
-The coil pack does not get 12v on the harness side when I crank the motor.
-I have checked that everything is plugged in twice over.
-I think the timming is good, on rotation one of the crankshaft the cam shaft sprocket marks line up to each other, like this 0- -0 and the crank shaft lines up to to the mark on the oil pump. On rotation two the ticks on the cam sprockets look like this: -0 0- and the crank is lined up to the oil pump. When I turn the motor by hand there is no valve/pistons hitting and it is easy to turn. I also never took off the cam gears off the cams, so they can't be reversed.
-I tried unplugging the 2 fat relays on the firewall, drivers side, and cranking the motor, then plugging them back in... still wouldn't start.
-I get a check engine light that goes away after 5 sec, so ECU is probbably ok?
-I never took crank sensor out, and never even unplugged it from its harness so I can't see how it could have gone bad.
-I took a multimeter to the harness for the cam position sensor, with the sensor unplugged, and ignition in "ON" and I am reading 5v, ground, .74 volts. The Chiltons book says the third wire should have 12v.

I hope someone can help, thanks in advance. BTW I just ordered a new cam sensor from rockauto, it was only $26 and the current sensor has a small hairline crack in it (even though it worked ok before) so maybe that can fix it.

check to see if you have the target magnent on the exhaust cam behind the cam position sensor, i know that i didnt have one on there and it wouldnt spark except for after 5 or 6 seconds of cranking, but still its a little annoying part that most people have never herd of.

I am pretty sure it's on there. I took cam sensor off yesterday and put it back on after whipping it and the magnet on the cam. It had a little oil on it.

The cam sensor plug and the coil pack plug are the same style plug, each will plug into both, did u plug them in to the wrong ones??

check the spark relay? its probably not it but its worth a mention.

Thanks, a lot eclipse7782 :) I endeed up swaping the plug going to the transmission sensor and the coil pack plug because they are also the same size, and almost the same length. Once I swapped them back I heard a click in a relay, I went to turn the key and it worked :) :) Time to put everything else back on and take it for a test drive.

You got lucky on that one, Ive seen the coil and speed sensor harnesses get swaped and it fried the ECU.
