89912, loose t-belt...again....WTF!!!?? Posted by 2point4, May-26-05 03:23 PM
i've done the t-belt job at least 20 times and have never had this issue until these recent couple weeks. i just did this same f-n job two weeks ago to fix the same issue, loose timing belt. i replaced the hyd tensioner (thinking it must have been a faulty part) and both tensioner rollers just for the hell of it. the car ran great fot two weeks-dusting honduhs all over town. but...yesterday i was rolling to napa to get radiator hose replacements and the car bogs at about 4 grand and cel comes on, i ran the keydance and it was code 11...fuck me!!...that's timing. once again the belt has worked itself loose. the car will still drive but it's parked until i fix it again-emphasis on "again"!! now, i feel that i know what i'm doing when it comes to our engines mechanically and i'm still working on the electrical portion but when i did the job 2 weeks ago, i didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. so, is there an electrical problem that can produce this kind of result?? i've always assumed that if there was a misfire problem that it would not affect the mechanical rotation of the engine. if i'm wrong please school me up and as always any input is greatly appreciated. drown me in pennies fellas..chris
side note: head is fully built and resurfaced, 1mm o/s valves, springs & titanium retainers, and crower 2 cams

sounds like you're having a fun ass time chris :D sucks i cant join ya...
call me up tonight and i'll see if i can't point you in the right direction :thumbsup
edit: for the time being though, go get the code actually checked at autozone (do it for free)...cel 11 can be for a few things, not just mechanical timing.

hey josh, on the reals though, you should spot me that 60mm tb for my block. it's not like you need it anyway bro, lol. and my underhood scheme is blue and black. i brought my block home yesterday also. my welder will be finishing the water pipe and oil pan here real soon. then it's time to test fit that mount. can't wait...chris
