I have never damaged the threads in a crank, removign the bolt or installing the pully.........then again i dont use the bolt to install the pully either. I would say it was cross-threaded when put in the last time, Sorry man cant join you on this one.

ill have to go with nope also. pulled it many time. also dont use bolt to install/pull either.

never stripped it but I'm terrified everytime I've had to remove or install it.

I still haven't heard where people are getting a 6-8" long M14x1.75 tap and drill bit to re-thread it? All the ones I've seen are only 3" long or so.

Whats the trick?

I'll have to go with hell ya, and it just kept stripping too
I was using the torque wrench method of getting the pully back on.

i got a 3/8" socket extension permantly wedged in that goddamn hole. pretty sure the threads are stripped :shrug
