89423, A/C wiring problems..
Posted by 96NTeclipse, May-14-05 02:21 PM
I have been about to pull my hair out getting this AC fixed before I take the car to the paint shop. I found a wire that was obviously damaged when I put the engine back in and soldered it. Now I'm a little closer to getting it to work but I have another hurdle.

When the A/C button is pressed, I am getting power to the Black/white stripe wire that runs from the relay box for about a split second. After that the power is shut off and the AC light starts blinking. The compressor never kicks in. I have tried to jump out the low pressure switch on the canister beside the passenger headlight, but it will do the same thing.

Now the main questions are:
1. Does anyone have a shop manual that has a Hvac wiring diagram that includes the AC compressor? (Chiltons doesn't.. dont bother looking)
2. If not, where does the yellow/red stripe wire go that runs to the compressor and..
3. Where does the yellow/green stripe wire run that goes to the compressor?

Any insight?

Update...

I found that the yellow and red stripe wire runs to the ECU. I guess that is the signal wire that tells the ECU that the A/C is on.

I am still looking for the source of the yellow and green stripe wire. If I ground it, the compressor will kick on, but it obviously bypasses the pressure sensor since it ran continiously with low freon in the system.

Anyone with a factory shop manual??

Whoever tells me the source of the yellow and green stripe wire wins free chat on 2GNT.com for life.

do an author search for "darkone" (dino). check his sig...youll find what you need. i belive the electrical systems diagrams start on about page 40 in the "97-99 electrical" section.
