89096, Horsepower estimate? Posted by Nine5eclipse03, May-08-05 07:04 PM
i'm in the process of rebuilding, i'm planning on just buying the 2.0 bottom end DOHC from howell, with 8:1 compression. As for the head, i'm building one, regrind cams, aem gears, pt lifters/rockers, bored out, with mostly everything else stock. And to finish it off, a 16g turbo with front mount. I'm just curious as to how much power i will have approximately after all of this is built. And any ideas on 1/4 time? Any ideas on rebuild would also help, thanks.

No, i gave you both negative because you do nothing on this site besides do exactly what you said, flame. BANME!s.

People around here don't take well to bench racers dude. There are so many variables in your equation that no one here can give you an estimate of what you'll end up with.

Well thank you for your explanation instead of flaming, i wish there were more people on here who would take the time to explain than just being immature. I'd just like to know that if i'm on the right track or not with the engine. For instance, if i am throwing away close to $6500 to run a 15.9 instead of a 16.8, if so, i'm gonna just drop the whole idea.

I think anything you do to gain in performance is never a waste of money (well unless its those magic power parts). As long as you start with "your" budget and work from it you will be fine. I do think that having all that head work is great, but our heads flow great to begin with and our cams will work fine for good hp numbers, you could save that money and put it else where, say in the bottom-end, clutch/driveshafts, fuel system and tuning capabilities.

You can be in my shoes and take a stab at rebuilding and selecting a turbo kit without much help from anyone. Mine turned out alright. I asked people what I could get with my setup, I got dumbass answers ranging from 200 to 600hp, and quarter times from 16.9 to 12.2.... its hard to get an accurate answer because all cars are different.
My advice is build as you wish, dyno it and if its not where you want, get more done. If your rebuilding, you must have semi deep pockets, right? ;) Personally, I didnt have a figure in mind, so whatever I end up at is fine for me. Hell I'd never felt boost before, so the original 5psi was scarry, then I turned it up to 15psi.. I'm scarred now. LOL Nevermind those do0d boosting 20+... oh man.
Good luck with the project :thumbsup

You obviously are not on here much or often, because i am not one to normally flame. The one thing that bugs me more then anything, is people asking what there horsepower or 1/4 time will be. And why does it bug me so much? because its pointless. whether a bunch of guys on the internet say you will have 20 hp or 2000 hp, it wont change your car. No matter what we say, your car will still produce the same amount of power on the dyno and will still run the same time in the 1/4 mile. the only thing having us tell you how much power you have is good for is to brag to a bunch of ricers about what your running. Get out there and dyno it, get out there and race it. having us tell you what your power is wont make you faster, so its completely pointless. heres the thread i was talking about http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=83616&mode=full . dont call me a fucking n o o b, n o o bs bench race.

i think you scared him away, but to help you out a little bit, you're not gonna get much at all unless you have the fuel to back it up, so look into a fuel system as well, better yet, just get a turbo kit from hahn or star, stage 2 can come with that FMIC you want, and you can put down some pretty respectable numbers.
