I checked the compression today on my VT rebuilt block. After 1,000 miles, w/out boost, on a warm engine w/ 8.8:1 pistons, those are the results I got. How I could have such a lower reading on cylinder #2 I don't know. But do you guys think this is alright for some good boosting? And would there be any power loss from that #2 cylinder when under boost? I just want to be sure everything's okay before I boost.

did you rebuild or get a valve job for the head. That was the problem I had b4 and I got a valve job and the compression was all even, so your valve might not be sealing all that well. but now that I rebuilt the head again its all wacky compression I'm gonna give it 1000 miles till I do another test hopefulyl even compression.

I had about 190-195 after about 500 miles on my VT block..the diamond hone they use breaks in the rings very, very quickly..I would have gotten on it a bit harder when you first drove it.. Now after about 30k miles, i have around 180-185.

So your saying I should put some more miles on her before the boost? And is that second cylinder really that bad? Is there anything I can do yet to bring my compression up? I mean, I did the 25-55mph pulls in the beginning and then drove it normally since then. Used 10W-30 the whole time and whatnot. Shit I hope I don't have to rebuild again! Thanks for any help.

In my opinion you should already be boosting. I started slowly boosting after 500 miles on the car. Go ahead and start slowly boosting. Don't go nuts, just give it a pound or 5 every now and then. There is nothing you can do to bring up your compression. That cynlider does look low, but I bet that the rings just haven't completely setted yet. Don't worry about it until you have 3000 miles on the motor.

So if that 2nd cylinder is actually low like that, will there be any noticable power loss from it when the car is in boost?

doubt it if you go from something radical like I did 260 260 260 0 you'll notice a big different hehe. You should be fine.

Cool. I guess I'll just put everything on and start off w/ a little boost and slowly work my way up like James said. Hopefully after another 1,000 miles or so the rings fully seat (if they haven't already).

I would recommend waiting for the boost, or at least keep it very low for right now. You don't want to fuck your car up now

Hmmm... maybe I'll wait another thousand miles to start boosting then. And you're right, I can go another few weeks w/out boost if it means risking blowing my new block.

Welp, after now 2,000 miles these are the numbers I got-180, 175, 180, 180. You think she could handle some boost now, maybe 10 lbs worth?
