89013, Finally got my block back! (big pics) Posted by BlackMagic, May-05-05 05:42 PM
alright its finally back, after a month and a half, they took their sweet ass time, but did a good job, they degreased it, bored it .020 over, polished the crank, checked the main saddles, and balanced the rotating assembly. It feels good to have this back, maybe soon my signature will have a motor in the engine bay instead of me...
here are some pics, i painted it black becuase it was looking pretty ugly, i didn't do that well of a job, but it's all good, i just couldn't stand the chipping paint/rusted look anymore

sorry the pics are so big
and yes those pistons are not actually connected to anything, just wanted to see what it's gonna look like
the pics are on my webshots along with some of the intercooler pics as well http://community.webshots.com/user/cmas00 take a look!

A month and a half?? I dropped my engine off last friday and picked it up on tuesday, 4 days turn around time. I just installed it wednesday, should be up and running this weekend. They bored it .20 over, honed the engine, degreased, installed je pistons 8:8.1, eagle rods, clevite main bearings, acl rod bearings, brand new crank, all in just 4 days. I would have been pissed to wait a month and a half. I painted my engine black as well, one thing you need to do is get the rest of the head gasket off of the block and if there is any on the bottom of the head there should be remove that as well, or it will not seal right and you will blow a head gasket. Looks good though keep up the good work!

yea they were backed up for over a month, the actual work only took like 3 days, but it was just the wait that killed me, oh and thats not gasket, thats just some residue left from the tape when i painted it, i gotta get that goo gone crap or whatever its called

did they resurface the block or did they sand it. where is the brass freeze plugs or at least new ones's. hope they took out all your oil plugs before they washed it. they didn't shotblast the block before all of the machine work was done or there would be no rust or old paint flakes, you block would look brand new. cylinders look great tho. sorry to be picky but i have been building engines for almost 15 years and some people don't understand the diffrence between rebuilt and remanufactured. if i knew how to post pics i would show you what my 420a's come out looking like. i will email pics to anyone who ask. not trying to throw anyone a sales pitch but you guys shouldn't have to wait more than a few days. my turn around time is usually 2 days for a built bottom end at $1450. oh and make sure you wipe out all of the over spray that is in your new cylinders, and yes there is overspray. anyways get that thing in and have fun boosting big.

theres no overspray in there, i taped the whole top and bottom off and made sure of it
