89007, AFX UDP alternator belt Posted by Hamgumball, May-05-05 04:18 PM
Well the one that came with the pulley broke off. I took the belt to autozone so they could get me a replacement. And when I put it on (gatorback), it started to squeak, so I tightened it as much as I could and still squeaks. Well, I took a closer look and realized that the adjusting bolt is all the way tight on the bracket. So that means that the belt i got is the wrong size, do any of you have the part number for one? The gatorback one is 4040315. I told the autozone guy to get rid of my old poly cog belt.

Ok so now what does the numbers mean? Whats the difference between 4040315 and 5040315? If there the same does this mean we were all given wrong sized belts?

different ribs in the belt. just wrap a string around the pullies, and measure it.then thell them you need x amount of ribs, and xx inches.

I tried the string thing for the powersteering with no ac belt but couldn't get it right and ended up going to autozone and trying out 3 different belts till i got it right. I know the last three is the length 315 = 31.5 inches. Did any of you udp owners have this problem?

There's two adjustment points on the accessory belt- the Powersteering pump moves around in its bracket, and then once that's tightened down, you use the adjustment bolt, then you tighten down that pulley once it's adjusted perfectly.

My powersteering belt doesnt give me problems, its the alternator belt that squeaks.

The alternator belt that came with mine is a little long. it is almost adjusted out and it is brand new. I'll have to get a shorter one when it stretches a little. Someone should tell them about this.
