sent them to ya uber. just a note for those who care, the mount is not finished. i believe the block will be slanted if installed like it is now. i think you will have to remove some material from the bottom of the other half of the mount set but you get the idea...chris

No. There's too many different ways to go about it, all with their own advantages and disadvantages. Almost all the parts you need are OEM Chrysler anyway.

Is there a single thread that lists everything on how do do it, all the parts and procedures? even if it just for one of the ways to do it... If there isn't one can the people that have done it get together and make a thread of "Everthing you need to know on the 2.4 swap" i really want to do it since my rebuild was shitty and would like to do the 2.6 like brynden had...

how did he get it to 2.6L? I am at 2.5. just wondering. My mount uses a srt4 engine mount and a custom other half. I made a rubber one but my newest is a solid mount.
 best time so far 14.3 @ 101.1mph(no traction) www.cnnmotorsports.com

I don't know, somewhere on here i remember seeing something about a 2.7 being possible... maybe that was just bs
so, you've done the swap... you should make a thread about it and all the stuff you have to do, with pics !!! now!!! :+

Im pretty sure he had the 2.4L block overbored what 60 thousands over and used a custom crank. Something along those lines to achieve close to 2.6, It's not a full 2.6 like the 5.0 mustang is not really a 5.0. Im sure there are some really old threads about it. Look up old posts by brynden.

Heh, it's a 4.95, didn't you pay attention in school when they talked about rounding? It's 3 cubic inches from being actually 5 liters.

Its a bore and stroke with a custom crank, not just a 2.4 bored to 2.5, thats why its 2.6. The Howell block claimed 2.7 but its really closer to 2.6. I remember Gary saying this would effect the absolute redline though. So better to stick with 2.4 /2.5. Besides, Howell doesn't sell the 2.6 anymore.

fuck that is alot of welding. I thought you were going to make one from scratch. Frightening contraption you got there. As long as it holds though.

88974, RE: 2.4 mount pics.... Posted by 2point4, May-04-05 08:21 PM
yeah i was going to make it from scratch but it'll take me quite a bit longer to do that. i've still got a long haul to get this fucker done (not counting the other two cars i'm tooling on also) so i'm cutting all the corners i can right now, trying to be running by july or august. i'm doing the oil pan and water pipe now. for the water pipe, i took both stockers (2.0 & 2.4) and cut them to fit where i needed and will be welded back together soon. oil pan, i'm using the stock stratus pan but the bottom will be cut off and fit for clearance over the downpipe. i'll get pics asap...chris

Those welds look pretty good to me. I wouldn't see a problem with it holding up. More of a fitment issue than anything.

This is the motor that blew up at the speed channels super flea challenge. it also got penalized for being too loud if i remember correctly. it hauled while it lasted.
