This pump is roughly 1 month and a half old. My car hasn't been running right since I installed the new turbo back in feb. Its been running lean as hell and I have checked the fuel line routing and it is perfect. My mechanic narrowed it down to the fuel pump. That it is either defective or wasn't wired right. I am about to rip out my back seats and check the voltage from the pump. Before I do that, I would like to know if anybody that has the walbro 255 hp pump installed. I know its suppose to be loud as hell, but am I suppose to be hearing a metal knocking on metal sound coming from my tank while driving? Even at idle, it sounds like it is vibrating around inside the tank, kinda like a rattling loose heat shield sounds on an exhaust pipe but it is clearly coming from the tank. It is as clear as day and annoying as hell while sitting at a light. Is this normal for that fuel pump? Also I used the rewire kit when the fuel pump was installed.

That's not normal.

The walbro sounds like a high pitched whine, very smooth, and really not THAT loud. Shouldn't rattle at ALL.

The high pitch whine i can hear from outside the car. THAT I figured was normal, not the rattling though. Also I forgot to mention I smell fuel. Not sure if thats because I'm running lean, or there is some kind of leak, but there is no leak outside the car or in engine bay.

I think you need to double check the installation of that fuel pump, then.

another symtpom, is the A/F meter is bouncing like crazy once the car starts moving. At idle, it just reads lean. As I come to think of it, I never changed my fuel filter with the installation of new pump, guess i'll check into that too.

Can't hurt, but i think your problem lies with a faulty Walbro, an incorrect installation, or a fuel pressure problem in general. What is your idle fuel pressure?

my fuel pressure 42 psi. I recently changed the fmu thinking that was the problem and upgraded to the vortech sfmu and tried every combination of disk and springs to raise that pressure, and the highest i got it to was 42 psi

what year are you? did you disable the the stock FPR?

stock fpr has been bypassed. The fuel line setup has been checked and rechecked, and triple checked. Its perfect, that I am sure of.
