im gettin a new intake in the mail today b/c the 1 that came w/ my car is all shitty....but what is that little metal piece that comes w/ the kits?..like w/ the holes in it lol its like 6 inches long or so ...i dunno what its for..

Those intakes used to come with a half assed shitty bracket welded to them. They broke off in about a month because they use shitty materials and shitty welds. Now they send you a piece of what we call "back strap" which is basically a long strip of metal with holes down the middle. They figure you're going to make your own bracket out of that.

You'll do just as well performance wise to stuff a nice cone filter on the end of you stock intake pipe.

are you talking about the mounting bracket to hold your intake in place?

Uh, it's used to hold your damned intake on so it can last 6 months and then you can run over it on the highway.

i dunno i guess its a mounting bracket..it was welded on there coming off to the side..and the end split into 2 parts w/ like a 3/4 inch space (think of a fork w/ only 2 pronges)...i couldnt find anywhere for it to hook onto though..

if you installed your intake correctly that thing your speaking of is the bracket used to hold it in place like everyone is trying to tell you . it should fall around where the bottom bolt went that held in your factory air box also you should have a 2 sided screw that came with the cai and a piece of rubber in the middle, this piece screws into the car where your old air box was and than bolts to the intake bracket, without that piece the bracket will break the first time you drive the car.
