87612, Stupid Question ... BIG Tach Help ... LoL Posted by ColtsNumba1Fan, Mar-30-05 07:38 PM
Whats up guys? I've read thru the post's and searched like everyone said and yes I bought 1 of them 41 inch tach's with the 100 watt red light in it, didn't want it but for 50 bucks basically new hey couldn't really beat it, but went to hook it up and before i dove into my ECU i wanted to know EXACTLY where i need to hook my green wire. I know it's the white wire in the ECU, but how am I suppose to get to it? I've never messed with the ecu before so it would be something new for me. I know there's 2 plugs ... And from there I'm lost. Am I suppose to slice into the harness or what? Someone help please!

HAHA that's hilarious.
What year is your ECU?
Well, just go here and click on which one you have and look for the tachometer pinouts: http://www.2gnt.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Sections&op=listarticles&secid=12

I have the monster 5" tach as well and I happen to like it, lol. You dont have to wire that green wire for the tach pickup all the way through the firewall to the ecu. just take out the 2 bolts that hold the gauge cluster trim in and pop it out. in the upper right hand side, next to the gauges, you will see a big group of wires wrapped a little bit in electric tape. slice that tape open (careful not to slice any wires in half) and you will see the white tach wire. tap into that, and your good. then just run the red wire to a 12v source, the black to ground and the white wire to a lighted 12v source (green wire with white strip...this wire will turn the light on the tach when you turn your headlights or corners on). i deserve points for a nice in depth detailed answer :) haha
