Anyone using aftermarket coilpacks? Where have you mounted yours? The freaking tec3 coilpack is huge... running outta mounting places...

Is there any benefit to running an aftermarket coil?

Edit: my bad, was using terms interchangeably, even tho they have diff meanings

wtf 2g's don't have a distributor they just have a coil.

The Neon guys are the only guys i know that have put a distributor to use. I am sure you could do it with ours but i dont see the bang for buck sort o speak.

Yes, there is an advantage to using aftermarket ignition parts. Stronger spark, and spark that lasts a longer duration of engine revolution.

Especially in the case of the Electromotive ignition set up (HPX or HPX with TEC-3). One it's completely programable, and two it's about double the output of a standard CD Box.

I just installed a MSD coil pack. I didnt notice any power gains, but the engine has been running smoother since swapping it out.

Plus aftermarket coilpacks are cheaper than stock.

don't be a cheapo with your car oem is always the best unless you get a FULL MSD setup.

Well, the screamin demon is cheaper than stock, so was the MSD coilpack that I got for my car.

I thought you had to have extensive mods to the 2g before you put on a after market coil pak. If I'm wrong let me know and I'll go get one today.
