Are they suppose to sound like garbage? Its nice and deep under about 3k rpm but then above it makes a f-n rattling noise like an 80s beater. Is this normal? I looked at the mounts and they look fine so im thinking inside the silencer there must be some loose junk rattling in there.

Anyway, I was wondering if I could wrap Dynamat over the muffler and if that would help... My REMUS muffler has been delayed (again) and im sick of this POS muffler sound.

It's fairly quiet if it's stock. Maybe there are one too many potatoes crammed up your tail pipe. :shrug

No I didn't expect it to sound like a Ferrari but then again I didn't expect it to sound like an 80s beater...

I covered the muffler in Dynamat and it seems to be a lot quieter from the inside, from the outside its still pretty noisy but it helped quite a bit now it sounds more normal! Chalk one up for Dynamat. :D

You covered your muffler in dynamat???? Wow, when I thought I have heard everything on this site. More than likely you have an exhaust leak somewhere along the piping. Most of the time it leaks on the downpipe near the flex section. Jack up your car, get underneath and look for flaking on the pipe starting near the front. If you don't see a leak anywhere then how about you post a WTB thread for a GS-T rear section in good shape. Buy the correct 3 bolt gasket from a muffler shop and install the exhaust in about an hour. More than likely the bolts will be rusted. If you can't take the time to fix things correctly how about you stop complaining things are wrong.

Ya I checked for leaks but couldn't find anything, I think the muffler is just getting old. Ahh well, I guess it'll do for awhile.

I put 1 whole sheet of Dynamat.

Okay now with the turbo installed the muffler doesn't rattle at all anymore. WTF. It actually sounds good. haha :D

Oh and by the way the Dynamat melted off the muffler. haha. I was expecting it to go sooner but it lasted good for a few weeks.

Wow, how much dynamat did you use? I could use some if you have it laying around and don't value it very highly considering you used it for a "temporary" fix on your exhaust

When the RS/GS single tip mufflers get older, the baffles come un-welded inside the muffler. It sounds like brrrrrrBZAAAAAAHHHHH or something. I've never heard a GST muffler do this though. Get a new muffler, even a pacesetter would be an improvement once your baffles start coming loose.

I Have dynamat inside my trunk to deaden the noise in the drivers compartment but on the muffler thats probly a fire hazard.

Dynamat is rubberish so I doubt its flamable. But anyway, yes its a bad idea because the muffler gets hot enough to melt it right off.
