Okay guys I have a 97 eagle talon and it just rolled over 110,000 miles and today on the way to work my idiot light came on(oil pressure) and then turned right back off, I checked the oil in it yesterday and it was fine but today I am about 2 quarts low the car has no engine mods and doesn't burn oil but I did notice a splatter mark on the exhaust where it bends in front of the oil pan. Also I replaced the oil pan gasket about two months ago, and it hasnt been leaking at all until today. Thank you for any info you may have, I am just worried because it looks like a splatter mark instead of just dripping.

Make sure your head gasket isn't leaking from the rear passanger side of the block.

Nope its not that I already checked that cause I heard that the 420A's had a problem w/1 of the head studs being too long isn't that but thanks for the insight

If you absolutely cannot find it then you can hose down the engine bay to clean it up and use that oil dye to find where it's leaking from. :shrug

I know this is probably going to sound dumb but thats right up my alley so here goes where can I get this oil dye from and for about how much thank you very much as I have been looking for this porduct for some time now and can't seem to find it anywhere, thanks again

Go to a real autoparts store. Autozone and advance won't have it. Also if your leak went from nothing a couple days ago to 2 qts low then you should be able to find this one easily. 2qts in a couple of days has to be visiable...

Like what store? and also the only visible thing is the splatter on the exhaust and I'm sure its pretty dirty from that point back on the undercarriage but i am at work so I cannot get under it until later the biggest problem in locating it is that its not hitting anything else except the ground on the way down it kinda looks like its coming from the tranny side of the engine thanks guys for all you help I really appreciate it

I do understand that you have not had time to get under it. If it's comming out over by the tranny then it could be the rear main seal. Even without getting under the car, there should be visible signs that you can see. loosing 2 quarts in one day is not a leak it's more like a river...lol If you can get under it that will be the best thing, I guess what I'm trying to say is that nobody can diagnose an oil leak on the internet, so you will have to really get into it before we can really help you. 2qts in a day is a really big leak so if it was the Valce Cover you would see a river of oil from the cover down the engine. but you also said it is near where the exhaust goes under the pan, and that is opposite from the tranny side of the engine. At this point dye won't help because it's comming out too fast, you only use the dye when you can get under the car to see the leak, and again with a leak this big there should be no reason to make it more visiable. But things on the list to check would be oil pan gasket, Rear main seal, oil pressure sending unit, valvecover, spark plug well gaskets, oil pump, oil filter, oil drain bolt, etc, etc...

Thanks for the help I understand that you cant diagnose a leak over the internet (silly) but I think I have figured out the problem with the help of DarkOne when I replaced my oil pan gasket my father (who is a mechanic for volvo) told me not to use any sealant on the pan or the block since its a rubber coated gasket but he doesnt know much about our cars since he doesnt work on them so DarkOne told me I was supposed to put some where the oil pump housing joins the other peice of the block. And when I said it was coming from the tranny side I meant that the way the splatter mark is it looks like its coming from that direction.
