86864, 420A rebuild, suggestions anyone?
Posted by Nine5eclipse03, Mar-09-05 02:31 PM
My engine is getting a little high on miles, 140k to be exact, i want to rebuild this summer. Im going to throw in around 3500, to 4000. Anyone have any ideas on how i should spend this? I definately want to go turbo if its possible(moneywise). Let me know.

Move to a different (i mean noteworthy) country. :P

All NAFTA zingers aside...
For about four large like that, I would get the bottom end rebuilt and then look into the turbo system. The important thing here is, be sure you really want to keep the car for a long time. It's a labor of love, really. You will never get mod money back out of your car once you invest it. The chances of you finding another enthusiast one day who will be able to appreciate the money you've invested in the car are slim to none. (You know how fast they jump on the "part it out" bandwagon in these communities.) If you really love the car and want to build it for you to personally enjoy, then rebuild it and fuck the naysayers. If you just want something fast and easy, consider taking the 2GNT and the cash into the stealership to trade for a nice turbo car like an Audi or a 355 GT F1 with the SMG package or something. :P

Just be sure you really want what you're looking into. A dollar spent on a car you don't absolutely love is a dollar wasted imo.

NOTE:
I realize that a Ferrari 355 is niether turbocharged, nor the type of vehicle you put up cash and car worth less than $10k as a down payment. It's just me being, well, me.

Or you could just be so rich that you drive up to an SRT owner in your new 355 F1 and say you want to buy one of those "crazy fast Neons" for a daily beater. :P

You bring the camcorder and I'll bring the crowd. Edit: We got Andy's car fired up and running on the new long block this last weekend. We're thinking a SpeedWorld meet sometime at the end of this month. If Daisy is done then you should try your chances at the tree. ;)

Daisy could possibly be done by then, but there's no chance she'll be broken in until mid-April. Also, the turbo bits don't go on until sometime in June. We'll see. :twitch
