86776, Engine dies once in a while. Posted by laoreflxzn, Mar-07-05 03:00 PM
Ok here's what happen. Just got my paint job done that morning. Brought it to work, upon coming home smoke started to come thru my vents and was driving with a trail of smoke. Stop the car, ran out and notice flame under my car. Popped open the hood and found my engine on fire. Mostly the exhaust manifold where my exhaust wrap was. My new painted hood was bubblely and melted. Well after putting the fire out with snow outside, found out the tranny line came off the fitting and sprayed all over the engine. Filled the tranny back up and drove it home. But on my way home the car stop and stalled. It only starts back up when I wait about 1 minute. Then drove it again and then few minutes later stalled again. Now it idle fine when park and sometimes drive for about 5 minutes without stalling. It stalls open take off after a few minutes of driving. Now any help is appreciated because I dont know whats goin on. But tell you this before the fire my car idles at 2k-3k and when stop at lights it idles at 1k-1.5k. After the fire it idles great at 700-1k rpm. Also I did change my IAC and TPS before the fire. Any help please

where is the vacuum diaphram. Also you think I can just block off the egr? I will try that and see if it will fix the problem.
