I have been talking to SBC and they can make ma a clutch to hold 650ftlb tq for my current project. It requires an aluminum flywheel that is non-modular. I was just curious if it is possible to pull the motor and leave the trans with this setup. Anyone using a non modular clutch able to do this?

Yes, you can leave the trans, but it will be tedious work trying to get the trans input shaft spline into the clutch. If you are pulling the motor, then its really not much more work to pull the trans. Just pull both together. This way, you can bolt up your clutch up with the motor out of the car, and then bolt up your trans also, which is much easier when the motor is out.
Oh, and how much did they quote you for that clutch? What exactly is the setup?

It would be a Unorthadox aluminum flywheel with a special a carbon coat insert and when combined with our feramic facing it increases the friction co-efficient. It's basically a carbon on carbon set up. With the L/W flywheel they use a VR6 clutch (500 more lbs than O.E. clutch) and with the steel flywheel they use a Sachs power clutch. Both are modified for a 15% plate load increase.
the aluminum clutch setup is going to run me right around 1k and the steel one @500. I dont know if it worth the extra 500 but I want something that is going to grip like a mother. I used there DxD racing clutch a while back and I was happy wiht that so I figured I would return my business to them.

Hmmm alot cheaper than whay I was looking at. I am assuming that is with a steel flywheel. Do you think an aluminum flywheel will do more harm than good considering I have aluminum rods?

Ah,yeah thats what it was..a VR6. I had talked to them last year about that, and said they were able to have a custom flywheel made for our cars, that adapt a VR6 pressure plate...damn, that's not cheap, but i'd pay it if it really holds that kind of power. Now they said the VR6 PP had 500 ftlbs more over OUR stock pressure plate? or the stock VR6 pressure plate?...and you say they increase to 15%. Is that 500 ftlbs on the VR6 PP BEFORE or AFTER the moddified 15% increase? Do you know the exact ftlbs on the PP after its modified or anything? Just want to compare our stock PP's approx 1000 ftlb rating..
