OK ok... I have done everything correctly to my knowledge on this, but its wrong. I retarded the CAS 90 deg and I swapped wires 1 and 3 going to coil. I timed the block at cylinder 2 at TDC and the head as you would on the 2.0.

One thing is the cam gears are of course reversed pointing the 2.4 side out. I thought I had messed up because I timed them as you would for the 2.4, and it wouldn't crank... duh since the 2.0 side would be completely backwards. Ok now I timed them the complete opposite of what I had as the 2.0 head should be. Ok still no dice.

As it sits right now its timed on cylinder 2 at TDC with the head timed as it would be for the 2.0. When you try and crank it, its completely ass backwards sucking through the exhaust mani and blowing out through the intake.

Any ideas as to what in the hell is going on. I am so pissed with this right now I feel physically nauseous.

that's your major mistake right there

the whole point of swapping injectors, playing with the cam sensor magnet and swapping wire on the coil pack is to convert the block to a timming on cylinder 1 at TDC just like a 2.0

I tried timing the block on 1 at TDC but it seemed as if it had NO compression. I mean it seemed like I didn't even have the plugs in. It turned over WAY to easy.

also cam gears needs to be like a 2.0 because those are 2.0 cams
if you have them like 2.4 you have one cam out by 180 degres

I'm trying to remember if I didn't catch my Cam gear fuck up before trying to time 2 at TDC.

I think its error on me becoming pissed off. I caught my 180 degree after I was thinking I needed to be on cylinder 2 because of my compression.

Ok so all I have left is to turn cylinder 1 to tdc since the head is timed as a 2.0 now correct?

You want your block at tdc and make sure you re-mark the cam gears as if they were on the 2.0 side. Then time it like it was a 2.0

Mark the 2.4 side of your cam gears like the 2.0 side. Also make shure you re-wire the injectors, other than that sounds like you have everything else in place.

I haven't worked on it since Friday. Its at a buddies shop since hes letting me use one of his bays when he doesnt have anything to work on at that moment. I didnt go in yesterday because we had other stuff to do, and haven't gone in today because according to Arkansas laws you must be a lazy bastard all day and do nothing.

~edit~ I found that I had one cam out 180degrees before I left friday. I felt like a real jackass after that too.

Timed it all as a 2.0 and nothing. I'm gettin fuel and I'm getting spark, but it won't crank.

I figured my ECU somehow got fried so I hooked up diagnostics. I only got code PO340, if I'm remembering correctly, meaning theres a problem with the CAS. I thought if I didn't have signal from the crank or the cam sensors it wouldn't spark? Regardless a new CAS will be here in tomorrow morning, and I'll try that.

If this doesnt work I have no clue what to do, short of trailoring it to someone who has completed the 2.4 swap.

So Try turning the cam angle sensor to where it's supposed to be - 90* advanced.

Tried that as well.

Yeah, but did you try it with the motor correctly timed?

If you retarded the cam magnet, then it's 180* off from where it should be - it should be 90* advanced, with the motor timed like a 2.0L.

Advance it 90* over stock, then leave it alone.

Yes its all timed like a 2.0 right now. Cylinder 1 at TDC and the cams timed from the 2.0 side of the cam gears.

There are hairline cracks in my CAS and I'm just hoping a new one will solve the problem. I've had the CAS indexed all 4 ways, stock retarded 90*, advanced 90* and 180* out, hoping for something.

P0340 is no signal from cam sensor.
If it was P1390 or P1391 it would be an out of phase problem with crank sensor.

Check your sensor, the connector and the continuity across the wires to the ECU. Also get a good cam magnet in there.

Well I have no clue. The new CAS is in and index correctly, the back wires of the injectors are soldered together correctly, the timing is for a 2.0, and the wires on the coil are correct.

I'm getting fuel and spark but shes not giving me anything. I have no codes either. I am soo stumped, I have no clue what to do here.

Do you have compression?

Not as much as I think it should. Its not near the compression I had when the timing was ass backwards.

Anyone?

i'm just throwing this out there so don't flame me fellas, i was under the assumption that the cam gears were to stay on the 2.0 side. he is getting fuel and spark, the only thing left is compression. there must be an issue in the cam gear alignment...chris

please give us your compression numbers

also tell us what exactly you did with the cam sensor magnet
you could have fuel and fire but not at the right momment if the magnet is at the wrong position

I went back and checked the cam gears and, I take blame for this too, my friend had somehow marked the gears wrong and I never rechecked them. Changed them and holy shit it sounds nasty.

Mark another up for a 2.4 swap. Thanks to everyone who helped me out with this.
