Is the ceramic coated worth paying the extra $15.00?

I mean... thats a whole $15 right there. I can balance my front tires or fill up 3/4 of my tank.

screw the coating, stainless forms its own ceramic coating
when exposed to air it chrome oxide forms which is more commonly called "ceramic".

Well I personally have always questioned OBX products, so Id look around to make sure people don't have bad things to say about these headers (check the reviews section on the main site maybe). As for looks, I love stainless steel, it looks awesome and gets this really cool blued finish once its been heated. Just be careful to wash the headers off before they are heated, the oil from your fingerprints are enough to burn a stain onto the steel when you drive the car. Also know that if you get the 4-1 header and not a 4-2-1, then you WILL sacrifice a little bottom-end torque for some upper-range horsepower (but they look better). Hope I helped.

My greddy header/downpipe just had to get welded up because it formed a 3" crack just below the collector. So you really never can tell about quality.

Mine cracked at the top flange, around cyl 3 & 4. After I sold the car, it broke down at the collector as well. Is it a common thing?

go with the ceramic. Chrome oxidizing does not form a heat barrier. I have my dp, turbo, and header ceramic coated and i have a minimum of 400 degrees less heat under my hood. efore the coating was done my hood prop was hot enough that i could not grab the metal after a hard run. now after a hard run reaching 1500 degrees egt, my hood prop is not even warm.

If anyone believes the bluing on chrome or stainless is a heat barrier they need to read a little more.

I would go the ceramic route but not by obx, i have one of their so called ceramic headers and the light coat started flaking off in less than 200 miles, if you want obx for the price get ss. I have no complaints other than that about the product.(fitment was perfect)If you really want ceramic then go with a better brand.

I've got the stainless OBX. Fit great, no probs, but the blueing has turned nearly black now... looks "run Hard" for sure. Coating would have looked better in the long run, if it lasts...

I got obx and no problem here. I got heat wrap around mine so I don't know what it looks like.

Thats just the promblem it does'nt last. I have talked to other people with the same header thinking maybe mine was an isolated incedent but everyone i talked to had the same complaint. i really don't care though since i wrapped them about a week later anyway. If you really want to keep temps down then wrap your header, it does'nt look to hot but I'd rather have functionality over looks any day of the week.

imo turbo manifold.
