Does removing the heatshield thing (with the X thing with the hands on it) which goes over the headers really help any? Just about EVERY pic Ive seen on here the cars dont have the shield. Your help is appreciated guys, sorry for being a newbie to the Eclipse world.

Hey man I don't have a header on my car yet(its on order)but I think when you put an aftermarket header on you have to take the shield off.

It is just there to keep the heat away from the coolant line that runs right over the exhaust mani.

I have my HRC manifold and turbine housing there and have no problems with overheating, so it really doesn't matter if its there or not.

The pictures you've seen have had headers most likely. Which don't come with heat shields(except BroSpeed) Don't take the stock one off unless you are installing a header... the stock exhaust manifold looks... BAD it will be rusty a dirty looking brown and not a way to brighten yoru engine bay.
