85635, idle....
Posted by rgirard413, Feb-06-05 02:13 AM
im still having idle issues, but today it got worse. I thought i may have fixed it, so i took it around hte block, by the time i got back to my house and parked, the car was idling at 3 grand, but it didnt move, it just stayed there. had the clutch in and parked and it was still there. i changed the IAC already, checked the resistances on the TPS and they seem fine, changed tps, hell i even bought a new bov. not sure what could cause it to just sit there. It also had the old symptoms of sitting at around 2 grand until i came to a complete stop deal, but now it just hangs

oh another thing, when i turn the ac on or off, there is no fluctuations in the rpms...

Make sure your throttle cable isnt sticking.

Make sure your throttle body gasket is on the right way. I had the same idle problems you do then I realized it had a vacuum leak through the throttle body gasket. Just an idea

the gasket would make that big a rpm increase?

one other thing, when the car is cold, it sits at 1k. and every few mins it will spike up to 2k and then back down to 1k. then when i go off and drive for a min it will sit at 3-3.5k...

that is a vacum leak for sure.

Find the other leaking gasket or hose.

ANYTHING after the throttle body, including the hoses, manifold gaskets, sensors, gauges, etc. will cause a vacuum leak that will cause a high idle.

had a new problem today, while coasting the car would rise and drop between 1.5 and 2k rpm repeatedly. could the turbo kit have anything to do with this?

i'm having the same exact problem as you. well, i was until i changed the IAC motor today. hopefully my problem will not come back after i drive it a bit like it did with yours. but if it does ill be watching this thread. could it be the intake manifold gasket? that would be a pain in the ass to check.

im not sure what is leaking or where, i hope its not the mani gasket, i changed the tb one, that would the only other one right? that and the hoses for leaks. The aic on mine is changed as well

found out my problem hopefully, i have an injector that is leaking..allowing air in. This would prob explain my bad gas mileage and slight sputtering idle as well.
