i was working on the speed sensor today and i found a rubber vacuum line. or i should say, a rubber hose that i assume is a vacuum line. the hose is very stretchable and its coming off the back of the tranny/motor a few inches to the left of the speed sensor from what i can tell. the problem is, the hose isnt connected to anything! i cant start the car now to test it and see if its got vacuum though so i figured i'd ask...does anyone know if there is supposed to be a hose back there...it may just be a loose hose the monkeys at the shop just got stuck in there. the problem is...the hose is in a location that prevents access when the battery is installed. so i can't test the hose with the car cranked...what a predicament.

look to see if your windshield sprayers are connected :thumbsup i bet they arent, that line runs to your windshield reservoir

yep. thats right, thats what it is. i disconnected my automatic make-your-windhsield-dirtier-than-it-alredy-was reservoir and nozzles about 4 years ago. i guess that hose just got lost down there.

ya know, i didnt have my pump hooked up for the windshield washers, and i failed my inspection for safety...

Just run a line from your rear windsheild reservoir to the front, remove the drivers side rear panel in the trunk to expose the rear windshield washer reservoir. there is even a hole right next to the rear windsheild reservoir with a gromet already there to run the line under the car.

btw why the hell is our front reservoir so fricken huge??? i've had my car for 2.5 years and i have never once had to refill it. when i took it out to change my fuel filter the thing was still more than half full. i've never seen one this big on other cars. :wary

yeah it's like a fucking molar tooth. or an iceberg. i took mine out...washer fluid fucks your shit up real good anyway if you dont rinse it off after using it. it would be sweet if you could convert the reservoir to an airtight nitrous container and use the washer nozzle switch on the steering column to spray nitrous in small amounts onto an intercooler, or shit, in the intake pipe.

That could be done... it would be fucking sweet too.

I actually made a custom windsheild washer fluid tank this summer when I pulled my engine. I'd take a picture for you guys, but my car is tucked away for the winter, garaged, covered, the whole bit. But here's a description ... I used a clear bottle about the size of a shampoo bottle with a standard screw-top I drilled a hole with a fostner bit in the bottom to accomidate the pump, and then siliconed the pump in place. I just made a quick sheet-metal mount and located it on the firewall and hooked it all up. It's probably a sixth of the size of the one we have now, and holds about 20oz. You have to re-fill it more often, but I never drive my car in the weather so it's not really an issue for me. And ... it still passes inspection - that's the best part.
