i've read ALL the old posts about the speed sensor and i still cannot see the speed sensor on the top of my tranny. i have the battery and the intake pipe out and i still cant see it. can someone give me more specific directions to where it is located on the tranny, pics if possible? i fixed my idle problem so now this is the only thing wrong with my car...hard to break in a new motor for 1000 miles if your odometer doesnt work.

nevermind, i didnt remove the battery tray yet...is it under that? (ie, impossible to get to without removing the tray?)

And yes you can get to it without removing the battery tray. But you do have to remove the battery.

I could see mine withought removing anything, just used a flash light, I even managed to manuever my arm down to it to wiggle the wire and make sure it was plugged in withought removing anything... it was a tight squeeze but its possible. And yea, right below and maybe slightly forward of the throttle body.

yeah holy shit...i found it. you guys a re a bunch of fucking ethiopians if you can reach in there that easily. and i have shinny arms...or so i thought. so i got to it finally...covered in oil (me and the sensor). i take the sensor out and the connector on the sensor itself is coated with the same clear jelly that was on my ISC control sensor. so i cleaned it and reinstalled. my optima battery is at the shop getting charged over the weekend though so i cant tell if i fixed the speed sensor prob. but most likely. tomorrow im takin the naval jelly and wire brush to everything under the hood thats dirty. i bought some 1200 degree black rustproof paint and some 1200 degree primer. im going to paint the turbine tomorrow and see if the paint will stick. 1200 is gonna be pushing it though. if the paint burns off i guess ill have to make a heat shield.

The paint will not last long. I have a ceramic coated housing and manifold that was done with the shiny stuff. Which I think is rated at 1500 degrees and it is not holding up very well.

got any pics of it with the paint in bad shape? ill probably build a heat shield anyway
