this car is really pissing me off, it breaks at the WORST times..im goin to school this morning, get in my car and its freezing air coming out of hte vents..so im like wtf, but oh well i hafta get to school..get down 1/2 mile and its overheating..so i get home and theres NO antifreeze left in it..i just filled it up 3 weeks ago so i dunno wtf...i really need me car this week..anybody know why it would lose so much so quick?..im gonna go try to check the hoses but i dont know much about them and its like literally 10 degrees outside

To lose that much that quick, you have to have a hose off somewhere. Check the metal pipe going to the water pump and th lower radiator hose connected to it. Check the upper hose and then follow the metal lines and hoses coming off of the thermostat housing around to the back of the head. Then check your heater hoses where they hook up to the firewall.

No, but it's easy to find. The pipe for the water pump is right under the exhaust manifold. Just follow it all the way to the radiator. The upper radiator hose comes out of the top of the radiator and goes to the thermostat housing. It has the radiator cap on it. Coming out of the right side of the thermostat housing should be a series of hoses and pipes leading all the way to the firewall, just check and make sure they are all connected.

Also check that little 3 inch part over your exhaust manifold, mine had a pin hole ( i do mean pin) that would only shoot out some at throttle and when warm. It could go for miles, but if I boosted for too long there went the antifreeze.
Also do a compression test, another of my problems was the hg blew and was allowing some coolant to the combustion chambers, not enough to see white smoke, but enough for it to overheat.

If there is a LOT of steam coming out of your tailpipe, then your hg is gone. Its been really cold here too, but after an engine warms up, smoke should stop coming from the tailpipe, if it pours out when you step on the throttle, you got problems. Just happened to me too about two weeks ago, turns out I need a new head as well. turns out the owners before me went a long time running just water and no anti-freeze which equals a fucked up head. o well...

Probably your thermostat inside the housing. That's what happened to mine. Just found out today.

Running an engine with just water when the temp is warm enough will not hurt the engine. Water transferrs heat better than coolant does.

Notice I said

Running pure water in an engine when there is no danger of freezing will not hurt the engine. He stated that since the prev. owners ran pure water for an extended period of time, the head warped. This isn't true. If the head was ruined due to freezing, then most certianly the block would have been ruined also.
