Just a comment on urethane inserts for our cars. They are absolutely, WORTH the money and hassle. I've heard alot of discussion about whether or not the extra vibration is really worth the extra throttle response, etc... C'mon, it's a no brainer. I just got mine in, and YES the car does vibrate more, but you definately feel the additional response right off the line. I'd recommend it to anyone. The one's I installed were Prothane, and I'm really impressed. I didn't think it would matter much, but it really suprised me. If there is anybody out there, "still on the fence" urethane is definately the way to go.

Thank you. I love my filled mounts as well, but what is really cool is how the hood on my 1G shakes because the driver's side top mount is worn all the way through and the motor is resting on the fender or whatever all the time. Oh man, it's sweet.

i wasnt aware that a motor mount would affect throttle response??? i could be way off, but IIRC the entire reason for installing stiffer MM's is to cut down on trans/motor movement and prevent wheel hop allowing you to launch harder and get out of the hole faster.

now you could be mistaking the improved acceleration due to better traction for throttle response...but for a part that has no real bearing on how the engine RUNS, i dont see it inproving response.

I think your right in stating that the motor mounts do not directly affect the power output of the motor, BUT they do affect how the motor transfers power through the drivetrain. My understanding, (correct me if I'm wrong) is that there is some power loss due to the engine rocking back and forth, ASWELL as the situation we call "wheel hop". Stiffer mounts reduce the amount of wasted power = faster timeslip. I watched as my motor flipped and flopped around the engine bay, and it is now rock solid. It moved very, very little under all conditions. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding of it.

i bought some energy suspension inserts (from and rear mount) but i've only had the chance to install the front. that one's supposed to be the easy one but one of the bolts was being a bitch so it took me long. :(

i like the response though. i kinda like how you feel the engine more through the steering wheel an stuff too. putting on just the front improved my wheel hop problems slightly, but i think the rear is supposed to make a bigger difference.

I have e.s. motor mounts and they are surely worth every penny. Our cars have enough wheel hop as it is, and this is a good way to clear up some of the trouble. I give em a good solid 8 on the 1-10 scale. Worth the money and trouble if you're doing a HG or intake mani change. I noticed the most with my 1st to 2nd gear change, very solid and smooth, it's right there now, instead of that sloppy flop hop shift.

Several people on here have some of my solid front motor mounts that I custom make...that and they are half the price of Howell, and work just as good...40 bucks shipped :) The vibration from a solid front mount really isn't that bad..i don't even notice it anymore now that i'm used to it. It's not like the car shakes like crazy or anything..

Is buying the howell solid front motor mount woth it if you already have the polyurethane one in the front? Is it that much better for $60??

sorry bumping this one, read up above that its worth it if your doing intake mani work, which i will be doing. im assuming thats talking about the rear one thats a pain in the ass. i wanna know if the solid one is that much better than the insert, cuz if i get the solid one, ill still have to pay for a front insert to get the rear one. thanks.

interesting... how is the quality of it? compared to howells that is... and how long does it take to get it?
