8542, Aftermarket spark plug wires problem

Ok, I just got my set of Matrix 9.3mm plug wires and I'm a little confused. Each wires in the car is less than 6". The Matrix ones are super long! I mean I'm looking at one of 'em that's about 18" long & the shortest one is about 10" long. Can someone please tell me why these wires are so long or did I receive the wrong ones. Thanks.

So what do I do? These things are freakin jumpropes! Won't the length of the wires retard the spark?
