85252, coke+battery acid = gone? Posted by WarnerC, Jan-26-05 06:48 AM
I have some battery acid on one of my terminals and people have been telling me to pour a little coca cola on it and it should dissolve it away?

It will work, just kinda messy. Use that or either go to the parts store and look for some battery post cleaner. You'll probably be due for a battery soon though.
 Gotta love winter

Yes that is a very old school method. one of the posts could be leaking fumes. clean them off and check back a day or two later. if they are caked up again go buy a new battery before it wont start.

It works good. Coke disolves battery acid and even rust ;)

Or instead of coke, you can use baking soda to clean it up, if ur gonna stick with homemade products. Just pour some in a glass/container, fill it up with water, then use a brush to clean the terminals.

Use some sand paper or a wire brush. Then you can spray some terminal guard on them. Its a little spray can of stuff and works wonders.
