hello fellas. long time listener, first time caller. i just received my msd ignition (sci 6300 series) and msd direct fit coil. i was wondering if anybody has installed this particular ignition box? it will be installed on a 96 GS with a 2.0 nonturbo that is bone stock except for a cold air intake. any tips or warnings of potental problems will be greatly appreciated. also does anyone know if i will be required to use a msd tach/fuel adapter with this system? thanks

why do you need that type of an ignition system if your bone stock?

wrong ignition box, only the Dis2 works on our cars.

DIS2 or DIS4... the SCI is for distrubutor-timed cars and won't work on a 2GNT or any other distributorless ignition vehicle.

and the adapter to keep the cel away is part #PN 8917

Edit : Also with the underhood temps It has been known to cause premature failure. I mounted mine here in the pics the air from where the old airbox was, air blows on the back of it to help keep it cool.

well i feel like a chicken that got caught in a tractor's nuts. thanks for the help. i guess the right equipment would help. good thing i havent begun to attempt an install yet. i must of had too many St. Pauli's when i ordered the box. by the way MadHatter, i like your setup. i was just out measuring and getting ready to build a similiar mounting bracket, never thought of a mud flap. did you have to cut it down or did it fit in?

yep it fits right in ....I used 1 inch thick and 2inch round rubber stoppers behind it which I screwed through to make it look right and also to take out any vibrations and also to still let as much air in from where the stock box inlet is. Also on the diamond plate I drilled about a dozen holes behind the dis-2 to let air flow behind it. I have alot more pics of the install of that set-up I will try to find them ...they seem to be miss placed on the HD. But heres another to tide you over till then.

Because a stronger spark that lasts more degrees of crank rotation is good. It's a good mod to prepare for more mods.

and get the wiring harness that msd sells its a simple plug and play deal. just make sure you get the right plug

ok i got the right equipment now. i am having my cousin machine me a mounting bracket, having a little trouble finding a big enough mudflap. he's a machinist, so i'll just put him to work. anyway, i was wondering about the dip switches on the side of the dis-2. did anyone have any problems getting their cars started or have to toy with the default settings?

I had no troubles getting it started but I did double check the default settings and there was a few that were on that should of been off but I might have bumped them putting it in, but you should always double check imo. I did adjust my staging rev and secondary rev a couple times before I found my sweet spot. The secondary was mainly for when I had no2.
